Welcome to Scalp Micro Boston
What is Scalp Micropigmentation?
Scalp Micropigmentation (SMP), occasionally referred to as a scalp tattoo, is a cosmetic tattooing procedure in which hair follicles are replicated, resulting in the appearance of a perfectly blended full head of hair. The procedure itself is minimally invasive and requires an SMP hair restoration expert to perform the procedure from beginning to end. Scalp Micropigmentation cannot be performed by just anyone, do not be fooled into thinking any tattoo artist can perform SMP. SMP is set apart from any other pigmentation procedure in the way it is delivered and the results it achieves. SMP results in a natural-looking undetectable hairline with the appearance of flawless flowing hair density, which is all tailored for you by your SMP expert. The procedure itself utilizes specialized equipment and all-natural ink materials that are delivered in precise amounts to the scalp – resulting in a perfectly blended appearance of a fresh haircut or a freshly shaved head with a buzzcut style complete with a full-frontal hairline.

What is the recovery after an SMP procedure?
Scalp Micro-pigmentation is a non-invasive procedure and requires no downtime away from work, school, or other functions. Recovery times vary from person-to-person as you’d expect. A complete recovery averages between 7-10 days. A client should expect a little redness in the treated area for about 1-2 days.
Will Scalp micropigmentation change color over time like tattoos?
Absolutely not! Scalp Micropigmentation is a form of permanent cosmetics. Scalp Micro Pigmentation ink is different than traditional tattoo ink in which the pigment contains no additional colorants or additives and will only lighten over time, and not discolor like traditional tattoo ink.
Will I need a touch-up?
Eventually yes, the scalp micropigmentation process typically lasts about 5-6 years. After that time, a client may experience some slight fading which they can come back in for a quick touch-up.
How much does Scalp Micropigmentation cost?
Costs for Scalp Micropigmentation vary depending on the amount of time it takes to complete the procedure and the complexity of the work being performed on the individual. We review costs and expected results during every free consultation.
Am I a good candidate?
This is a very common question, which people are often scared to ask. The fact is most people experiencing hair loss are great candidates for Scalp Micropigmentation, but others may not be. It really depends on a variety of factors. To learn for sure whether or not you’re a good candidate for SMP schedule a free consultation with us and we’ll gladly review your candidacy.
How long do Scalp Micropigmentation results last?
A long-time! SMP is designed for the long-run. Everyone’s skin and lifestyle are different so some factors may cause your procedure to need to be updated sooner than others, but overall the procedure is considered permanent.
Can I wear a hat directly following my scalp micro-pigmentation procedure?
The answer is yes; you can wear a hat or skull cap after your SMP procedure is complete. However, we encourage our clients to disregard most of their old hats, hold their heads up high, and walk with a little extra bounce in their step!
